Jesús Carazo was born in Burgos, Spain in 1944. Writer and high-school teacher of Spanish Literature, he currently resides in Bordeaux, France. He has published twelve novels and has won several prestigious Spanish prizes in Literature such as the Sésamo, Elena Fortún, Ciudad de Barbastro, Ciudad de Valladolid. His most famous novels are Secretum, Los abismos de la noche [The Chasms of the Night] (French translation Les abîmes de la nuit. Fédérop, 1998), Después de Praga [After Prague] and La boda del tío César [Uncle Cesar’s Wedding]. Jesús Carazo is also the author of several novels for adolescents, which have captivated tens of thousands of readers in Spain and abroad. Some titles include: El soñador furtivo [Furtive Dreamer], Las sombras de la caverna [Shadows of the Cave], El mal de Gutenberg [Allergic to Gutenberg] which was published by Easy Reader (Denmark) and Klett (Germany), El círculo africano [The African Circle], El túnel de papel [The Paper Tunnel], El verano francés [French Summer], Yara cruza los Pirineos [Yara Crossing the Pyrenees], ¡Pide otra pizza, por favor! [Ask for Pizza, Please!], Los conspiradores [Conspirators]. Most of these works have been published by Alfaguara, SM or MacMillan.

El soñador furtivo [Furtive Dreamer] was chosen by a group of specialists at the Germán Sánchez Ruipérez Foundation as one of the top hundred novels for youth in the 20th century (Babelia, El País, April 5th 2003). Over the last twelve years, Jesús Carazo has dedicated himself to playwriting. His plays have been performed in Spain and abroad. Some plays include: América, Los grillos bajo la tormenta [Crickets Under the Storm], La invitación [The Invitation], El ojo de cristal [Crystal Eye] (French translation On vous regarde, Paris: Hispanogalia, 2008), La increíble velocidad del planeta [The Incredible Velocity of the Planet], Flores de papel [Paper Flowers], Paisaje de lluvia con fantasmas [Landscape of Rain with Phantasm], La tarde del séptimo día [The Afternoon of the Seventh Day], Último verano en el paraíso, under translation to English [Final Summer in Paradise], Dos viejos lagartos [Two Old Lizards]. Dossoles Editions published the first four in 2003 and Fundamentos Editions published the last six in 2005, 2007 and 2009.

Recently, three new plays have been published: in 2011, Y entre la hierba, el miedo [Between The Grass, The Fear] by Murcia University Editions; in 2012, Luna de miel [Honeymoon] and Las guerras del soldado desconocido [Wars of the Unknown Soldier] both by Fundamentos Editions. In addition, in 2014, a collection of three plays was published by the same editor: La eternidad [Eternity], Naufragio(s) [Shipwreck(s)] and Homo sapiens. Último verano en el paraíso [Final Summer in Paradise] won the Lope de Vega —the most prestigious prize in Spain for dramatic literature— in November 2004. La reina que no quiso reinar [The Queen Who did not Want to Reign] has been staged in Spain since 2006.

Eternity was performed in Mexico in 2018.

Three plays have been published in French: Portrait de l’artiste avec bouquet de fleurs [Portrait of the Artist with Flowers] in 2013, and Ciel! Une comédie! [Good Heavens, a Comedy!] in 2016. In April 2017 three more plays appeared in Spain: Pensión Libertad [The Freedom Guest House], Un alma a la deriva [A Drifting Soul] and Una gloria local [Local Celebrity].

In November 2018 two novels were published by AltAutores Editions: Un otoño en Burdeos [An Autumn in Bordeaux] and El viaje a Grindelwald [The Trip to Grindelwald], followed one month later by a book of memoirs, Aquel Burgos sombrío donde fuimos felices [That Sombre Burgos Where We Were Happy].
